Christian Louboutin Exhibition 20 years of Red soled shoes!

Does your heart skip a beat at the sight of a red soled shoe? Christian Louboutin is an inspirational designer of shoes that not only has a worldwide celebrity following, but has us all coveting after them.

Yet what really makes his shoes special is the RED SOLE. It is believed like all good designers Christian Louboutin knew there was something missing in his shoe designs..... and looking over at his assistance red nail polish sparked his most successful design decision. They say that good design comes from everyday living and that surely was the case for him.
As we flick through the pages of fashion magazines we see celebrities wearing beautiful shoes, but what we really NEED to see is if the sole is red. Yes the sight of a red sole indicates - I am wearing my Louboutins.

I wonder if Christian Louboutin had knowledge of the colour red, I am sure he did. His inspirations for his shoes come from the feminine figure and the influence of burlesque dancing. No other colour on the sole would mean fire, passion, desire, and love like red does.

Red is a very emotionally intense color. It enhances human metabolism, increases respiration rate, and raises blood pressure. It has very high visibility, which is why stop signs, stoplights, and fire equipment are usually painted red. In heraldry, red is used to indicate courage.

Christian has never marketed his brand. It hasn't been necessary - thanks to the red-lacquered soles which have made them instantly recognisable the world over.

To celebrate his 20 years of success his shoes are on exhibition from 1st may till the 9th July in London.

Vintage wedding with an ice cream theme! Yum!

When our good friend Alison Tinlin of Plans and Presents requested some of our vintage inspired hair accessories and jewellery for a photo shoot she was styling, we were more than happy to help.
New Headband to be launched in 2012 collection "Ali"
A few weeks later I am delighted to be able to showcase the images captured by Struve Photography, onto my blog. Oh my these images have drippings of raspberry sauce, rhinestone sparkles, vintage dress, art deco themed venue and all topped off with cream. I think I am in heaven!

Rondelle and Pearl Necklace and Bracelet

Heading down to the beautiful location of Largs (somewhere I don’t visit often enough and yet under an hours drive from me) the world famous ice cream parlour Nardini’s was the location.
Nardini's Largs Scotland
Nardini’s was originally built in 1935 however it closed it’s door in 2004. It has since had a major refurbishment and reopened in 2008 restored to it’s Art Deco glory with a modern twist. Pretty much what the vintage wedding trend is at the moment!

We are extremely proud of our Art Deco heritage here in the West Coast of Scotland. When it first began to take root in Scotland, the art deco style of architecture was a cause for celebration. The Empire Exhibition, which was held in Glasgow's Bellahouston Park in 1938, enthralled millions of visitors with its sleek new designs, and inspired architects to follow its design principles.

Rhinestone Rose Heirloom Bouquet
Make- up is also important for creating the vintage feel. The lovely Sophie Edwards at who is also a stockist of Wedding and Baby hair accessories created the perfect look for this shoot. The bride wears our Rhinestone Rose comb which has gained a lot of press coverage after being featured in Wedding TV’s Bridal Boudoir. Accessorised with an ivory birdcage veil which was positioned off the face, shows that you don’t have to always wear it covering your eyes.

So if you are looking for a twist to add to your vintage themed wedding make it an ice cream dream. If you can't go the whole hog with the ice cream what about these fab heart shaped ice cream scoops as favours. After all, the diet can now go out the window it’s time to celebrate!
