Justin Alexander Inspiration with www.weddingandbaby.co.uk products

Dub Stitch has weddings sewn up.....

http://www.weddingandbaby.co.uk/ are delighted to showcase the work of the fab Jenni at Dub Stitch. Having actually met Jenni and seen her work, I can personally recommend her fantastic favours and wedding bunting. Here is what she had to tell us .......

Looking for those unusual and beautiful finishing touches for your wedding day can be a real challenge – it can be very difficult to find something personal to you, at the right price!  This is where Dub Stitch can help.  I offer a beautiful range of wedding favours that are handmade just for you, to your specifications, and with prices starting from just 20p a piece, there’s certain to be something for everyone.

Handmade using your own choice of materials, to suit your colour scheme or theme, you can choose from mirrors, badges, bottle openers, magnets and keyrings.  They can be backed with cloth or paper - you could incorporate pages from your favourite book, co-ordinate with your bridesmaids' dresses or even match the groom's kilt.

Where possible I try to use recycled or vintage materials.  By providing your guests with useful and useable favours, you can be sure they will be around for years to come as a lovely reminder of your day.
I also make tartan bunting, perfect for those looking for a Scottish theme or to add a bit of interest.  This bunting looks great hung across the front of a stage or in swags along the top table, or even to decorate around your guests' tables.  It’s a perfect way to bring together the colours of the day.

Wedding guests go crazy for Candy Carts...

www.weddingandbaby.co.uk are delighted to have had a chance to interview Julie from Julie's Candy Cart. Having met Julie personally, you can be sure of a super service. Although I haven't seen the cart in action yet, I will be popping along to The Scottish Wedding Show at the SECC to check it out. Read on to find our more info on the Candy Cart and how we are giving away free tickets to The Scottish Wedding Show Feb 2011.

Tell me all about your business?

Julie’s Candy Cart is a new business created by myself and my husband to be. It came about when we were looking for unusual and unique ideas for our own wedding. I googled “unusual wedding ideas” and up popped a Candy Cart. I made an enquiry and unfortunately the cart in question was in Essex. I searched for a cart in our area and at the time there were no search results. Candy buffets by the dozen but not a Candy Cart. Obviously there is a gap in the market for this service.

My husband-to-be, being an engineer, offered to make a cart for our wedding day. That is when my little, white, Edwardian style candy cart was born. I have fallen in love with the Candy Cart and would like others to have the benefit of its use. I had never planned to run my own business but now see that there is potential for the Candy Cart business. I had my second child and gave up my teaching job18 months ago as well as relocating to Strathaven. Now we are settled and I’ve been a stay at home mum for a while it is a good time to get back out there into the working world.

I hire out the Candy Cart, not just for weddings but also for Christenings, Baby Showers, Birthday Parties, Engagements, Hen parties, Bridal showers, Anniversaries, Bar Mitzvahs, Proms, Christmas parties, New Years events, Corporate events and Charity events. I carefully set it up and dress it according to the colour scheme or theme of the wedding or special occasion being attended. I attach pretty organza bows and swags to the cart and tie ribbons to a choice of glassware, enamelware or sweetie jars, in which the sweets are displayed. Scoops, tongs and sweetie bags are also provided. There is a choice of different coloured canopy tops from, gold, silver and dark blue to candy stripe pink, bright harlequin and neutral wavy stripes. The type of sweets can be decided after a discussion with the clients. There are many varieties to choose from and I will try to source any special favourites.

Why should brides opt for your candy cart?
The wedding market is vast and the trends are changing all the time. The new trend is the candy buffet. There are considerably less companies who offer the candy buffet but displayed on an Edwardian type barrow. This is what makes “Julie’s Candy Cart” such an unusual and unique concept. It creates a stand-alone centre piece, a crowd pleaser and an eye catching display. It becomes part of the decoration of the wedding venue. It is the must have wedding item at any modern day wedding.
Any bride who wants an unusual and unique feature at their wedding, which will intrigue and delight her guests, triggering childhood memories of sherbet lemons and flying saucers, has to have the “must have”. It will be a talking point for many years to come.

How far in advance do brides need to book you?
Obviously the earlier the enquiry is made the more likely it is that the date will be available and this will avoid disappointment. I will, however, take booking at shorter notice if there is a gap in the diary. In this event, if clients are looking for specialist and personalised packages I would need a few weeks to prepare so their requests are catered for.

Do you do different themes and colour schemes?
I have six sets of colour coordinated accessories for the cart and am working on another two at the moment.
I will endeavour to dress the cart to match any colour scheme or theme that is requested for any occasion. Also I can put a colour coordinated or themed candy package together.
Some examples:-For a wintery wedding theme, a white and silver sweetie package displayed on the ivory or silver candy cart. For a little girl’s christening, pink and white cello wrapped sweets, tied with pink curling ribbon, displayed on the candy striped pink cart. For a little boys christening, pastel coloured cello wrapped sweets, with blue curling ribbon, displayed on the pale blue and neutral cart. For a Willie Wonker themed birthday party, a chocolate, toffee and fudge themed sweetie package displayed on the gold candy cart. The list is endless!

What area do you cover?
I offer delivery and pick up within a 20 mile radius of Strathaven (ML10). 50p per mile will be charged in addition to this for more distant bookings. I cover the South and Central Scotland area. I will consider other areas- if you don’t ask, you’ll never know!

I am exhibiting Julie’s Candy Cart at the Scottish Wedding Show, SECC, on Sat 19th and Sun 20th Feb 10am-6pm. I will be offering £50 off the hire price for any booking made and deposit paid on the day.
