The Glasgow Girls Wedding Fayre Polloksheils Burgh Hall 2012

This was the second year that we have exhibited at The Glasgow Girls Wedding Fayre at Pollokshields Burgh Hall.

We had a record number of brides attending our stand, placing orders and booking appointments. Thankfully our new recruit Elaine was on hand to handle all this.

Here is her story of what she found in the wedding industry.

The Glasgow Girls Wedding Fayre was held last Sunday (22nd January 2012). I assisted on Wedding and Baby/ LHG Designs stand to promote the very talented designer, Louise's work.  I was happy to meet so many Brides preparing for up and coming marriages to their significant other.

Wedding Tiaras, Bridal headbands, pearl combs, bridal jewellery, Vintage wedding hair accessories

They brought with them extended family to help them decide on various additions to their attire and many other preparations to make their big day perfect. A very busy day with a excitable feel to it throughout. Much attention to detail, and in particular of services and bespoke goodies to choose from.

I enjoyed the buzz of happy women and even some men.The best thing about the wedding Industry is how many new and refreshing ideas are brought to these fairs to widen the scope of what is possible and available. I can't wait to out at my next fair.

Budget Wedding Dresses under £700 Kate Middleton and Art Deco style

Wedding dresses can be expensive purchases for just one day. I designed my own wedding dress 8 years ago on that was in the region of £1200. Today that is the typical cost of some of the off the peg designer dresses. In my last blog post I told you about the Wedding Dress of 2012 finalists, but today we look at the budget dresses that are available from reputable online stores and the high street.

Of course I will add some of my own accessories into the post to help you complete the look.

What I love about these dresses is that it will allow you to copy the style of celebrities and even change into an evening dress at night too! A big trend that is coming back for 2012.

Wedding Hair accessories trends for 2012

2011 saw THE wedding of the year where the beautiful Kate Middleton married her prince charming (William). Wearing the traditonal tiara (Cartier Halo) for the big day, followed by her bridesmainds with flowers in their hair.
We soon followed with 2 further Royal Weddings - that of Princess Charelene and Zara Phillips

Another key wedding that year was that of Lily Allen and Kate Moss. Again flowers in the hair were seen, not only on the bride who wore them either side of her head, but also in the bridesmaids.

Rocking the trend of changing out of the wedding dress for the evening reception was seen by none other than Kim Kardashian.

So what is the wedding trends for 2012?
In 2012 we will see the Victoriana dresses making a big statement up and down the aisles. These dresses will range from the very flamboyant full skirts to the flappr style dresses. However the trend for the bride changing into another dress for the evening will still be VERY popular.

So what were the traditions of the Victorian Bride for hair accessories?
For their bridal headdress, country maids wound wildflowers into a wreath or, depending on the season, would gild small branches of leaves and wheat, then shape them into a golden coronet.  Of course, royal brides were an exception to the botanical wreath rule, wearing crown jewels rather than some simple flowery, pastoral crown!

Of course this trend won't feel comfortable for all brides so how do they incorporate that into their style.

At LHG Designs we predict that the Royal weddings will have influenced brides and we will see the return of more tradional yet vintage style tiaras in 2012/13.

Another key shape in hair accessories and headbands will be the Rhombus/Diamond shaped! As 2011 ends we have been very busy creating Rhombus/Diamond hair accessories and jewellery designs for our brides to be. From necklaces, earrings, headbands and cuff rhinestone diamond shapes have been popular.

Wedding Hair Accessories mood board

I have been working on a mood board to help a bride choose our accessories to match dress.

While waiting the beauty salon today I managed to get a quick glimpse through the celebrity magazines that featured Kim Kardashian's wedding.

Loved the 3 dress dresses she wore to the wedding and LOVED the accessories even more. It was heart warming to see most of the styles she was choosing I have right here at www.weddingandbaby.co.uk.

Wedding and Baby have always been popular with circlet/forehead bands, and although we have a couple in the collection our one-off vintage designs always fly off the shelves.
